Hello! Welcome to the inaugural launch of The Zetetic Path Blog. The Zetetic Path Blog is a reserved space for me to talk about pertinent topics of interest and in general to promote the mindset of Zeteticism. It was decided that this would NOT be an interactive discussion area where you might post comments. To facilitate a lively discussion area I created the Zetetic Path Community Forum where you can feel free to interact with others. From time to time, I may engage with you in some of the discussion areas.
What do I mean by the “Zetetic mindset?” You may have learned from other resources on this website that Zetetics is a disciplined method of inquiry to suss out the real truth to a particular problem of interest. You might be interested to know whether the mind-brain is of a singular or a dual nature. Maybe the challenge you are facing is whether a biblical story or event was a historically true event. Perhaps you have questions about the Big Bang theory of how the universe came about. Or, you could be wondering about the truthfulness of a political party’s candor on a major political issue. The Zetetic mindset is adopting a neutral stance that is free of emotion and preconceptions and is definitely not jumping to conclusions. Rather, we gather together the full full gamut of accessible pertinent evidences and study them using an array of techniques to enable us to make a a well-informed reasoned judgment.
Do you share my concern about the ever-increasing frenzied pace of society and how so many people are simply overloaded with informational sources? Most people are not suitably-equipped to make optimal decisions in such a state of chaos. When we find ourselves loosing a sense of control, the brain activates more efficient “coding” (i.e., mental programming) at the expense of a higher quality engagement. Decisions that might otherwise require significant brain power may be given fewer resources by tapping into automated techniques such as learned heuristics. Or, we might “outsource” our decision making by taking someone who we regard as a “trusted subject matter expert” and adopt their point of view and not question the validity of their insights. We simply don’t have the time or energy to parse data, even when it involves major things germane to our self-identity or well-being.
There are too many soothsayers that take advantage of this situation that peddle misleading or patently false information. To combat this trend, The Zetetic Path has been put forward as a medium to educate more people to become more diligent, conscientious, and rational in their thinking on major issues. One area where this is prevalent is in the context of religious discourse, or more pointedly, theological doctrine. Many claims are made but are not as well substantiated as some make it out to be. This is partially why I authored the book The Naked Truth about God.
As a society, we need to better understand humanity’s fixation on belief of a supernatural entity as it has been a partial cause of much strife across the world when certain individuals are willing to die or kill others to defend their high confidence in this otherworldly Being.[/tm_pb_text][/tm_pb_column][/tm_pb_row][tm_pb_row admin_label=”Row” make_fullwidth=”off” use_custom_width=”off” use_grid_padding=”on” width_unit=”on” custom_padding=”50px||50px|” padding_mobile=”off” allow_player_pause=”off” parallax=”off” parallax_method=”off” make_equal=”off” parallax_1=”off” parallax_method_1=”off” vertical_alligment_1=”start” responsive_laptop_1=”inherit” responsive_tablet_1=”inherit” responsive_phone_1=”inherit” order_laptop_1=”1″ order_tablet_1=”1″ order_phone_1=”1″ parallax_2=”off” parallax_method_2=”off” vertical_alligment_2=”start” responsive_laptop_2=”inherit” responsive_tablet_2=”inherit” responsive_phone_2=”inherit” order_laptop_2=”2″ order_tablet_2=”2″ order_phone_2=”2″ column_padding_mobile=”on”][tm_pb_column type=”4_4″][tm_pb_button admin_label=”Button” button_url=”https://www.zeteticpath.com/zeteticblog” url_new_window=”off” button_text=”Back to Main Blog Page” button_alignment=”center” custom_button=”off” button_letter_spacing=”0″ button_use_icon=”default” button_icon_placement=”right” button_on_hover=”on” button_letter_spacing_hover=”0″] [/tm_pb_button][/tm_pb_column][tm_pb_column type=”4_4″][/tm_pb_column][/tm_pb_row][/tm_pb_section]
